It was 2010 when Fintan and I left behind our London life to embrace a journey through South America with no plans, no expectations and no Spanish.
We roamed like free range chickens with backpacks. Slowly we made our way through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru’ and finally Ecuador. We called ourselves Supertramps. We met inspiring people, learnt Spanish, and broaden our horizons.
And it was when we let our horizons expand that life happened and we rode it and let it take us to places we wouldn’t have reached with our rational mind.
Life took us to the Ecuadorian Andes, in a small village close to the Peruvian border called Vilcabamba. We bought a small parcel of land where we built an octagonal house made of mud bricks, got a white cat named Luigi, a quintessentially British-looking dog named T-Man and the latest addition of Golia, a insane little black cat.
We planted loads of coffee plants and fruit trees and are about to start our journey in rural life.
